  4. If relevant, also add any funds received from an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) during the timeframe of January 31, 2020 to April 3, 2020. Subtract this amount of any advance under an EIDL COVID-19 loan.

Here is a basic example of how to calculate your PPP loan:

  • Your annual payroll is $240,000
  • Average monthly payroll is $20,000
  • Multiply by 2.5 equals $50,000
  • Your maximum loan amount is $50,000

Do I Have to Pay My PPP Loan Back?

The simple answer is that it depends.

As long as 100% of the loan is used for the purposes of payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities, the PPP loan can be fully forgivable. This essentially makes it more like a grant than a loan when used properly. The loan forgiveness application must be completed to determine whether you qualify.
